The warehouse of CARGOTRUST FORWARDING OU is in Maardu (Estonia) on the territory of a former plant, away from the residential area. Mainly the warehouse for cargo storage and transhipment during long-term transportation by sea, motor vehicles or by railway. Here transhipment of the packaged chrome compounds takes place. The cargo enters by railway, warehoused and removed by sea of motor vehicles. Due to this, the warehouse is considered to be chemically hazardous enterprise of class A and performs all the requirements necessary by the Law for chemicals, to retain safety.

Types of hazardous cargoes allowed for storage at the warehouse:

  • sodium dichromate
  • potassium dichromate
  • chromic anhydride
These substances are combined by the following properties:
  • non-combustible
  • soluble in water
  • toxic and/or corrosive substances
  • strong oxidizers
  • during decomposition at heating emit oxygen,i.e. support burning
The main hazardous factors are fire or chemical emergency.
The warehouse infrastructure is arranged with respect of additional requirements for fire and chemical safety. The technological processes at the warehouse are performed with respect of extreme care in the places where ignition or chemical emergency are possible.

To provide safety risk analysis and special measureas were taken at the enterprise:

  • plan of actions was developed for emergency cases
  • regular trainings are performed for the cases of emergency
  • primary means of fire-fighting are available
  • there are sound and light alerters installed at the enterprise and the nearest territories.
    • at the alarm start;
    • to inform about end of alarm a siren sounds 6 times for 30 seconds with the break for 60 seconds. The signals are repeated 4-5 times with the break for 2-3 minutes;
    • every first Monday of a month a control single actuation of the signal for 30 seconds is performed.
